  • Launch HuskyBot project website (stakeholder-facing)
  • Send outreach emails: library IT, GPU providers, dataset vendors
  • Procure cloud GPU compute (RunPod / Lambda Labs academic tier)
  • Select base model (Mistral 7B or Llama 3 8B)
  • Begin bulk harvesting ArXiv S3, PubMed Central, Semantic Scholar
  • Commit allocated funds before June 1 deadline

LLM Training & Chatbot Development

June 1 – July 15, 2026

  • Fine-tune base model on academic writing corpus & citation style guides
  • Layer ArXiv / PubMed / Semantic Scholar domain training (LoRA / QLoRA)
  • Build evaluation benchmarks for academic quality
  • Implement RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipeline
  • Develop hybrid chatbot interface (library assistant + LLM)
  • Implement research paper writing assistant features

Phase 3Upcoming

Integration & Testing

July 16 – August 1, 2026

  • Follow-up emails for granted API access (catalog, EBSCOhost, etc.)
  • Integrate library catalog & database APIs as access is granted
  • Build citation generation (APA, MLA, Chicago, IEEE)
  • Literature review assistant features
  • User testing with library staff and select students
  • Performance benchmarking against commercial LLMs
